Indira Mahavidyalaya College is a leading educational institution in the district of Yavatmal, Maharashtra, India. The Institute was founded On 20th Jun 1983 Dr. Bhau Mandavkar started this college in the name of their Mother-in-law Indira who fought against castism & classism & married inter-cast with Dr. Y.M. Donde in 1929 alias Indira Mahavidyalaya, Kalamb. Presently, Senior college of Institute offers Undergraduate courses in Arts (B.A.), Commerce (B.Com) And Science (B.Sc) and Post-graduate courses in commerce (M.Com.) And M.A. The senior college is affiliated to Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University. Junior college (11th & 12th) offers courses both for Commerce & Arts faculty.Over 1,500 students are studying in the Institute. The College has excellent and well-equipped library, Modern Computer facility.

Our inspiration Dr. Bhau Mandavkar, a famous writer of 125 books, researcher, social worker, educationalist started this institute at his birth place Kalamb, where he had struggled to get education due to poor economical condition & unawareness of importance of education in this rural & tribal belt.
In his books ‘KOLAM’ was the deep research on the tribal community of this belt which bagged 1rst award of Maharashtra Government in 1966 & Ph.D. by Nagpur University in 1969. Novel on orfans ‘Mazi Chalis Bhavanda’ got the honor of 5 editions including Hindi translation.
He fought against castism, classism & married inter-cast. Never run behind the money & kept himself away from politics.
He worked on many committees of Government, different Universities & organizations. He got many awards for his overall contribution to society including Maharashtra Government’s ‘AADIWASI SEWAK PURASKAR’.
Vice-President Mrs. Sindhu Mandavkar is retired Principal, Social Worker & a Famous Writer in Marathi.
Our Visionary Society
On 25th Feb. 1974 Dr. Bhau Mandavkar formed ‘Dr. Yashwant Moreshwar Donde Sarwajanik Shaikshnik Trust’ with the financial help of & in the name of their Father-in-law Dr. Yashwant Moreshwar Donde, who was a great doctor with MBBS in the British Rule & worked for poor & needy people with special contribution for Indian Army as a doctor in 1965 war against Pakistan.
On 20th Jun 1983 Dr. Bhau Mandavkar started this college in the name of their Mother-in-law Indira who fought against castism & classism & married inter-cast with Dr. Y.M. Donde in 1929.
